Straffan N.S. May Newsletter

We are flying through the months but the school shows no sign of slowing down. We are packing as much as we can into this month’s newsletter including our calendar. (The calendar will also be available for download on the website.)

GAA: We are still flying high on a number of fronts. Well done to all the boys and girls who competed for the school this year. You did us proud!

Community Games: There was a great turn out last weekend for the Community Games athletics, with schools bags laden with gold silver and bronze medals. Well done to everyone involved.

School Tours: We hope to have all our school tours between the 19th and 23rd of June where possible.

Gaeltacht: We waved goodbye on Monday morning to our sixth class. They will be in Gweedore, Co. Donegal for the week learning Irish and immersing themselves in Irish culture. The week is designed to give the children a life-long love of Irish. Bain taitneamh as an gcúrsa. There are daily updates on the website.

6th Class Graduation: This will take place in the school hall on Tuesday, the 27th of June. The time will be confirmed at a later date.

Green Schools: Well done to Ms. Keena, Ms. Fagan, our Green Schools committee and of course our amazing children, on getting our green flag on “Biodiversity.” A lot of hard work over the last two years has gone into getting this flag. Well done to all.

Communion and Confirmation: Congratulations to the boys and girls of Straffan N.S. who made their Communion and Confirmation. The children were a credit to the school and their families. Thank you to the parents and teachers for making the day so special.

Arts and Activity week: We are planning a bigger and better Arts and Activity week this year. It will run from the 12th to the 16th of June (Sports day will be on the Friday). We have invited artists and specialised sports coaches for the week. We are asking each child for a donation of €5 or €10 euro per family.

Junior infant induction: Junior infant induction day takes place on the 9th of June @1:30. Children from both classes will be brought to their classrooms and shown their new teacher while the parents will be brought to the hall for some light refreshments and a small chat.
