I hope you are all well and ready for the challenge ahead of us. I’m sure the children are missing their friends and teachers again but everyone is safe and we miss you all too. Don’t worry , we hope this will only be 3 weeks if everyone plays their part in following the guidelines. Children are exceptionally resilient and despite parents worries, we have seen how quickly they catch up when they do get back to school and we have no doubt that this will be the same again. We are strong advocates for Wellbeing and balance so be mindful of the pressures you are under and be kind to yourselves over the coming days. Do a little every day and set up a routine that works for your family.
Platform for Teaching and Learning: Seesaw
Today we returned to school and we have now our Plan active for remote teaching and learning. We have great pride in knowing that we did an exceptional job in the last lockdown and we have now reviewed and fine-tuned some aspects to reflect the Department of Education Guidance.
As a change to our remote learning plan from the last time, your child’s remote learning work will be uploaded onto Seesaw. In the past all work was uploaded on to the school App but this will not be done this time. Parents need to ensure that Seesaw is up and running as it had been since last September when the children had remote learning in preparation for this day.
We will update this weekly for the duration of the closure (Sunday night for Monday Morning start). Each class has a designated remote learning email account if you wish to contact the class teacher during work hours of 9.20-3pm Monday to Friday for clarity or guidance on any questions you may have regarding the work assigned. The teacher will share this email with you when she/he contacts you today. Equally please check your emails should your child’s class teacher send you a message individually. During this week we will put up links and extra activities to help keep the children working on their schoolwork while our schools are closed nationally. We recognise and understand the pressures on families at this time so we don’t want to overwhelm people with messages but rather provide options to suit your situation to help keep the children focus on their schoolwork.

Engagement with the school
We are encouraging all families to engage with the school during this period of remote learning. If you have concerns or issues to discuss, please do not hesitate in contacting us. At this time we cannot teach children in the school nor can the staff teach in our family’s homes according to the guidance from the DES. If you are concerned, parents should contact their class teacher to raise problems or concerns they may have where family pressures may impact on the guidance of their children. The Class Teacher will work with you to agree a plan that works for you. However, if the school becomes aware of pupils who are not engaging despite us using all the available resources available to us we will be required to seek the support provided by Tusla Education Support Service (TESS). Please let us know early so we can support you in the best way we can under the current restrictions.
I want to wish everyone all the best over the next few weeks. We can do this just like we did before. I have every belief that the children will slot back into a routine so let’s get started.
Beir Bua,
Mrs. Colleran
